Galatians 6:11-18

As a Christian, you are a new creation.

Introduction:
Paul finishes his letter to the Galatian churches by reminding them that what
matters most is not appearances, achievements, or earning religious badges;
it’s fully living out our lives as a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Starting Out:
Do you enjoy watching any of the many house restoration shows on TV?
Why do you think people are so fascinated by watching something that was old
and broken down turned into something new?

Following up:
Did you carry anyone’s burdens this week?

Galatians 6:11-18:
1. If you could ask Paul to explain one thing about this passage, what would you ask him?
2. What do the “Judaizers” or followers of the law boast in? (v.12-13)
3. Take a minute to discuss motives. What motives did the Judaizers have for requiring
circumcision, what motives did Paul have in freeing them from it?
4. Do you think it’s possible for us to perfectly obey all of God’s commandments?
5. What should we as followers of Jesus Christ boast in? (v.14)
6. According to verse 15, what does all our law following amount to?
7. How would you define what it means to be a new creation? (v.15)
8. What does Paul mean by saying that he bears the marks of Jesus on his body?

Taking It Home:
9. Ask God to show you ways in your life where you are boasting in your flesh
instead of relying on the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.
10. Are you keeping the main thing (The Gospel) the main thing in your life?
11. Do you pick and choose which of God’s commandments you want to obey?

Emphasis on Oikos:
12. There are people on your oikos that need discipling. Are you actively doing that?
