Galatians 1:1-10
The Gospel is not something we need to improve or
add to; the saving work of Jesus is complete.
Introduction:
When we add our own ideas, rules, or traditions to the Gospel, we pervert the saving
work of Jesus Christ into something other than what God intended.
Starting Out:
Are you the kind of person who always sticks to the recipe 100%, or are you
constantly thinking of things you can add to spice it up?
Following up:
Did you share what it means to be “born again” with anyone in your Oikos this
week?
Colossians 1:1-10:
1. What word does Paul use to identify himself? (v.1)
2. What 3 things describe Jesus’ work in verse 4?
3. What does Paul accuse the Galatian believers of in verse 6?
4. What specific “different gospel” were the Galatians falling for? HINT: See Chapter
5:2-6
5. What is legalism, why is it so appealing to so many people, and how does it
pervert the Gospel?
6. What does Paul think should happen to people who pervert the Gospel
message? (v.8)
Taking It Home:
7. Are you seeking the approval of man or God?
8. Are you allowing any outside influencers to lead you astray from the truths of the
Gospel?
9. Do you compare yourself to other Christians, or judge others for not following the
same set of rules that you have chosen to follow?
Emphasis on Oikos:
10. Whether you consider yourself an evangelist or not, sharing the good news of Jesus with
the people that God has put in our lives is something that God is counting on us to do.
