Job 1:1-12
Suffering is a part of life. It’s difficult to understand, but
God uses suffering for our good and His glory
Introduction:
When struggles and tragedies enter our lives, we can respond with courage, peace,
and faith knowing that God is in control, and ultimately wants what’s best for us.
Starting Out:
What’s your most valuable possession? What would you do if it was taken from
you?
Following up:
Did you help any of your oikos understand the Bible better this week?
Job 1:1-12
1. How is Job described in verses 1 & 8?
2. Based on this description, how would you expect God to treat Job?
3. Who are the “sons of God” in verse 6?
4. In verse 8 it looks like God is throwing Job under the bus and asking Satan to test
him, does this seem fair or right to you?
5. Satan is under the impression that the only reason Job is faithful to God is
because of his great wealth. Many people have this same sentiment today, why
is that?
6. Is Satan active in our world today, and do you think God is actively allowing Satan
to test us like he tested Job?
7. Do you think God has a hedge of protection around you?
8. What was Satan not permitted to do in verse 12?
Taking It Home:
9. Are you fully trusting God with your life no matter the circumstances?
10. When you go through tough times in life do you view it as God punishing you or
as an opportunity for growth?
Emphasis on Oikos:
11. Are you trusting in yourself or Jesus? You can’t save anyone; only God can save,
our jobs are to make the introduction and pray.
