Luke 23:32-49 & Ephesians 4:32

When Jesus died on the cross,
He made forgiveness of all sins possible.

Introduction:
Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross not only provides for forgiveness of our sin, but
it also empowers us to forgive those who have hurt us.
Starting Out:
What is the best reward/prize you ever received? Did you do something to earn it?
Following up:
Were you able to lovingly help anyone in your oikos understand God’s love for them
this week?
Luke 23:32-49
1. What did Jesus mean by “for they know not what they do”? (v.34)
2. What did the man on the cross ask Jesus for in verse 42?
3. Where/What is the paradise referred to in verse 43?
4. Do you believe that the criminal on the cross did indeed to go heaven, and do
you think his experience there is any different than someone who dedicated their
lives to serving God?
5. What’s the significance of the temple curtain being torn in two? (v.45)
Ephesians 4:32
6. Who is our example to follow when it comes to forgiveness? What have we been
forgiven of?
Taking It Home:
7. When you think about what Jesus accomplished on the cross, what exactly have
you been saved from, and what have you been saved for?
8. What is your definition of forgiveness? Is it the same as God’s?
9. Is there someone in your life you need to forgive?
Emphasis on Oikos:
10. Are you choosing reconciliation over retaliation? Is there someone in your
sphere of influence that you need to forgive or seek forgiveness from?
