1 Corinthians 6:9-20
God’s design for sexual purity and marital fidelity is
purposeful, with our best interests in mind.
Introduction:
As Christians, we are bought with a price by God and subject to His guidelines. This
includes the area of sexuality and what we do with our bodies.
Starting Out:
We all own things that are very valuable to us. To what lengths have you gone to
protect those things? How do you expect other people to treat them?
Following up:
Did you share the good news of Jesus with anyone in you oikos this week?
1 Corinthians 6:9-20:
1. How “tolerant” should the church be when it comes to sexual sins, and should
unsaved people be held to the same standards as Christians?
2. Who are “the unrighteous” in verse 9?
3. What does it mean to be washed, sanctified, and justified? (v.11)
4. Why are all things “lawful” for Paul? (v.12)
5. What does it mean that our bodies are members of Christ? (v.15)
6. What does it mean to be “joined to the Lord? (v.17)
7. What was the price that was paid to buy us? HINT: See 1 Peter 1:18-19, Rev. 5:9
8. How is sexual immorality a sin against one’s own body? (v.18)
9. What does it mean to be a “temple of the Holy Spirit? (v.19)
Taking It Home:
10. How could Christians do a better job of addressing sexuality according to God’s
design with their unsaved friends?
11. Do you look at the Gospel as your ongoing allegiance to Christ, or just a get out of
hell free card?
12. How can you proactively avoid sexual temptation?
Emphasis on Oikos:
13. Paul, an apostle of Christ used to be a hater of Christ until he met Christ. What
do you think can happen when your loved ones meet Christ?
