Colossians 4:2-6
Our new lives in Christ call for faithfulness in prayer,
obedience, and sharing the good news with others.
Introduction:
As we continue through Chapter 4, we see that as followers of Christ we should be devoted to prayer, eager to share the Gospel, and considerate in how we deal with others.
Starting Out:
When was the last time you were so excited about something you couldn’t wait to share it with everyone you know?
Following up:
How did you model Christ’s selfless love to your Oikos this week?
Colossians 4:2-6
1. What does it mean to be devoted to prayer? (v. 2)
2. How can we be “watchful and thankful” when it comes to prayer? (v.2)
3. What is Paul’s prayer request in verses 3&4? Why do you think he did not ask the believers in Colossae to pray for his release from prison?
4. What does Paul mean by “outsiders” in verse 5, and how can we be wiser in the way we interact with them?
5. According to Paul, faithfulness to God includes prayer and witnessing? How would you say you’re doing in these specific areas in your relationship with Christ?
6. How can we season our conversations with salt? (v. 6)
7. How can we “know how to answer everyone”? (v. 6)
Taking It Home:
8. Do you honestly expect your prayers to be answered when you pray?
9. Are you taking every opportunity to share the Gospel like Paul did?
10. What is holding you back from faithfully praying and witnessing?
Emphasis on Oikos:
11. How would your prayer life change this week if you focused more on praying for opportunities to share the Gospel with hose around you and less asking God to change your circumstances?
