FOR THE WEEK OF

Sunday, August 9, 2026 – Littlestown
Proverbs 9:1-12

When it comes to making daily decisions, wisdom and
foolishness are constantly battling for your attention.

Introduction:
Wise living requires choosing God’s way over our own. Putting God’s way above our
desires is how we build lives that truly honor God and how we demonstrate to the
world around us what being “All for Jesus” really means.
Starting Out:
Is there someone among your family or friends that is constantly making foolish decisions?
Do you think they are wired this way, lacking the ability to make good choices, or do they
just fail to seek out good advice?
Following up:
Did you make a plan to disciple anyone in your Oikos this week?
Proverbs 9:1-12:
1. “Lady Wisdom” is quite busy in these first three verses. What tasks has she completed?
2. Who is she calling out to, and what does she want them to do? (v.4-6)
3. What three contrasts are made in verses 7-9?
4. What is a scoffer, and why do you think they are not willing to receive corrections?
5. What is the beginning of wisdom? (v.10)
6. According to verse 11, what is the likely outcome when you make attaining wisdom
a priority in your life?
7. Who is responsible for whether we are wise or not? (v.12)
Taking It Home:
8. What is the one thing from this passage that you need to apply to your life today?
9. How is your relationship with Wisdom?
10. Is there something in your life that’s keeping you from seeking God’s wisdom?
Emphasis on Oikos:
11. Are you aware of any needs the people in your Okos have? How can you meet
those needs this week?
