FOR THE WEEK OF

Sunday, July 26, 2026 – Littlestown
Proverbs 6:6-11 & 24:30-34

A lackadaisical life of passivity can drift you
towards regret and missed purpose.

Introduction:
Wise living requires diligence, intentionality, and hard work; living All for Jesus with
a sense of purpose that makes every day matter for God’s glory.
Starting Out:
How would you define “work ethic”, and who is the person in your life that
demonstrates that the most?
Following up:
Did you make any changes to how you pray for your oikos this week?
Proverbs 6:6-11:
1. Is there anything about this passage that you find hard to understand?
2. Why do you think Solomon chose to use ants as an example, is their work ethic
really all that different from other animals?
3. What ant-like traits does Solomon think we should emulate?
4. Why do you think laziness is so harmful?
5. Solomon claims that even “a little sleep” leads to poverty and scarcity. Is he really
saying there is no time in our lives for rest? Didn’t God establish a day of rest?
6. What kind of poverty do you think Solomon is talking about here? (v.11)
Proverbs 24:30-34:
7. Why do you think Solomon returns to this same subject a second time?
8. What does the sluggard’s vineyard look like?
Taking It Home:
9. Is there an area in your life where laziness is holding you back?
10. Is your laziness harming those around you?
11. How would Solomon describe the vineyard of your life. Is it an eyesore,
overgrown with weeds, or is it beautifully bearing fruit that can be a blessing to
others?
Emphasis on Oikos:
12. Most people choose not to follow Jesus because they’ve never been given a
convincing reason to do so. Are you giving your oikos a reason to follow Jesus?
