Galatians 4:1-5:12

As adopted sons and daughters of God, we have been given true freedom in life.

Introduction:
Jesus did not rescue us from sin so that we would return to spiritual slavery;
freedom in Christ means standing firm in grace, not drifting back into legalism.
Starting Out:
Are you always looking for clubs and groups of like-minded people to hang out
with, or do prefer to be alone?
Following up:
Did you increase your confidence in reaching your Oikos with the Gospel this week?
Galatians 4:1-5:12:
1. What’s the first thing that stands out to you in this passage?
2. How does Paul describe salvation in verses 1-7?
3. Why does Paul point out that Jesus was born “of a woman” and “under the law”?
(v. 4)
4. How have we been “redeemed” (v.5), and what did that redemption cost?
5. What was Paul’s concern for the Galatian believers in verses 8-11?
6. What are some “not gods” that are prevalent in our society today?
7. What can we learn from the story of Hagar and Sarah?
8. What was the purpose of Christ setting us free? (v.5:1)
9. When it comes to our hope of righteousness, what is the only thing that matters
according to Paul? (v.5-6)
10. What does Paul wish would happen to those deceiving the Galatians? (v.12)
Taking It Home:
11. Are you living like an adopted child of God?
12. Are you experiencing full freedom in your life?
13. What are some obstacles that are keeping you from sole dependence on Christ?
Emphasis on Oikos:
14. Reaching your Oikos with the Gospel is only a good idea until you actually make
a plan to do it. Do you have a plan in place?
