Genesis 1 & 2, Psalm 19
Evidence of God’s existence is overwhelming: His desire
to have a relationship with you, is also overwhelming.
Introduction:
God is the creator and foundation of all that exists. He is the source of life. He
created a beautiful, complex world out of nothing. But this orderly world does
come with some rules.
Starting Out:
Have you ever researched your family’s history? If so, did learning your heritage
give you an increased or decreased sense of identity?
Following up:
Did your prayer life change any this past week?
Genesis 1 & 2:
1. What are the first words that God speaks? What’s the significance of this?
2. In 1:26 God says “Let us make man in our image…” Who is us? Isn’t God doing the
creating?
3. Why did God make mankind “in His own image”? What does this mean exactly?
4. Why do you think God brought all the animals to Adam so that He could name
them?
5. What is the last thing that God created in Chapter 2?
Psalm 19:
6. What is David’s proof of God’s existence in verses 1-6?
7. David goes from praising God’s creation to praising His law. How does this
compare to the events of Genesis 1 & 2?
8. What is David’s desire in verse 14?
Taking It Home:
9. Does knowing that your family’s heritage starts with a loving creator who made
all things, change the way you look at your life?
10. Our response to knowing that God is the loving creator, everlasting provider, and
ultimate protector should be worship. Are you worshipping God with your life?
Emphasis on Oikos:
11. How can you share the beauty of God’s creation with your Oikos this week?
