Colossians 3:18-4:1
Living a life of surrender to Jesus will transform our
lives, our relationships, and our routines.
Introduction:
God often tests us with small things before trusting us with bigger things. Whether
it’s a daily task, a conversation, or a quiet prompting from the Holy Spirit, your
faithfulness truly matters. The faithfulness you establish today could build a foundation for God to build something truly special in your life and the lives of those around you.
Starting Out:
Who has been the most influential person in your life?
Colossians 3:18-4:1
1. If you are married, do you find it difficult to put your spouse’s interests above your
own? Why do you think doing so is “fitting” in the Lord?
2. Why is it important that husbands are not harsh with their wives?
3. Why does the respectful obedience of children please the Lord?
4. Why is it so important for fathers to not discourage their children?
5. As employees, how does obeying our boss honor Christ?
6. What is the inheritance referred to in verse 24? HINT: See Ephesians 1:11-14
7. Verse 25 indicates there will be consequences for not following these
instructions. Do you agree with that, and what kind of repayment is Paul talking
about?
Taking It Home:
8. When you pray to God, do you ask for Him to change your circumstances, or do
you pray that He will change you through your circumstances?
9. As an adult, you may not have to obey your parents anymore, but do you truly
honor them, and treat them with respect?
Emphasis on Oikos:
10. As spouses, parents, children, and employes what are some ways we can model
Christ’s selfless love to those that God has placed around us?
